SLS has extensive experience with developing and implementing Integrated Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems testing in large complex, mixed-use buildings that are new and existing. This effort has been ongoing prior to and subsequent to the adoption of NFPA 3, Recommended Practice for Commissioning of Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems and NFPA 4, Standard for Integrated Fire Protection and Life System Testing. In our opinion, SLS serves as the quarterback for integrated testing efforts on any project due to ability to engage with project stakeholders and knowledge associated with different systems; fire pump/standpipes/sprinklers, fire alarm, emergency responder radio coverage, access control, smoke control, emergency power systems, etc. As part of this process SLS takes the lead in:

  • Developing and implementing administrative procedures with associated reporting
  • Development of standardized building specific testing procedures
  • Engagement and leadership of project stakeholders
  • Participation and completion of systems integrated testing
  • Interface with Authorities Having Jurisdiction and engagement in the process
